Artist Comments

In the heart of Joshua Tree National Park a grove of smoke trees makes a mirage of mysterious colors which simulate flames and smoke. The minty-green and amber colored branches which appear gossamer soft are actually tough and thorny survivors in the dry desert heat.

Nearby Pinto mountains are seen in the background. This painting is mounted in a hand-carved white gold-leaf frame which complements the scene. This painting was exhibited at the annual Joshua Tree National Park art exhibit in 29 Palms and at the Fillmore Art Museum for a California Art Club show.
